HKU Pasteur Research Pole 2018 Courses

22.12.2017

The line-up of courses at the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole for 2018 is now complete.

We are thrilled to present to you our three courses for the year coming. We will have the Cell Biology Course in March, the new Croucher Summer Course in July, and the Immunology Course (with a 10th anniversary party!) in December.

8th HKU-Pasteur Cell Biology, 14-23 March 2018

Proteomics in Cell Biology of Human Diseases – Applications closed

This course will include lectures and practical sessions to provide students with concepts in quantitative and targeted approaches to probe the underlying cell biology of human diseases. We propose to bring together scientific leaders in the integration of methods in classical biochemistry and mass spectrometry spanning conventional to more advanced approaches that enable the analysis of dynamic biological networks under normal physiology and during diseased states such as pathogen infection.

Croucher Summer Course, 1-7 July 2018

Emerging Viral Infections: the One-Health Approach – Applications: open 15 January – close 29 March 2018

This new course series will address the grand challenges of containing emerging viral infections with an inclusive One-Health approach combining the fields of animal and human health. Special emphasis will be placed on discussing cutting-edge approaches (such as the use of “omics” tools and the harnessing of big data) to investigate the interspecies transmission of pathogens, a major threat to human health.

10th HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course, 2-15 December 2018

Quantitative Immunology – Applications: open 15 June – close 31 August 2018

This course will highlight the latest advances in large-scale, quantitative data collection and computational analysis as applied to biochemical aspects of immune cell activation and function, multicellular behavior in tissues and model organisms, and human immune function in health and disease. Lectures will be complemented by a wet lab practicum run by expert tutors to gain experience from basic cell isolation, flow cytometry and RNAseq to generate a rich data set of their own for subsequent analysis.

We are sure that, once again, many of you will apply to our courses this year! Stay tuned on our website and our Facebook page for more information about the applications.
